The council requested a 800mm high screen on top of the balustrade. Supposedly this is prevent us looking into our neighbour's house. Here is the result:
View from the balcony. Our neighbour's house (at least their roof) has gained some privacy
Viewed from the street. The colour does not perfectly match but it is close enough.
The certifier has been re-booked for next Tuesday to check this out. If it's ok, we will get our certificate of occupancy.

I guess you could always take it down once its been certified?!
ReplyDeleteWell done with your first of I'm sure many more DIY tasks
Looks very nice!
ReplyDeleteAnette :-)
We could take it down once certified but I am afraid some neighbour may immediately report this to the council. It won't be the first time: before we started building someone called the council to report may have started building without approval because they had seen a pile of dirt on our land!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately it does look like the permit condition was made without considering that the balustrade is glass, unless they've specified frosting/glazing on the glass too so that you can't see through it?
ReplyDeleteWell done on your DIY :-)
ReplyDeleteHouse is looking good, not long now?
To Cheltenham Home: the balustrade has always been specified as clear glass. Maybe the council did not think of that ;-)
ReplyDeleteTo melmox: thanks - we are now waiting for the certifier to check out the screen then it should be all green light (unless Metricon has still some work to do, which shouldn't be the case from what we've seen during the screen installation
